Book Reviews 26 & 27: Endurance by Ann Aguirre and Hive & Heist by Janine A. Southard

Endurance by Anne Aguirre: This book is Thimble's and Stone's perspective right after Deuce and Fade go on the long walk. It shows how the enclave falls, and is destroyed. This is Thimble, Stone and Boy23's story of survival. It covers some of the hardships they had to face and the ways that they had to adapt. Even though I still need to finish the trilogy, this book was really well written (except for a few grammar errors here and there), and it is always great to see a different side of the story. I really like it and if you read it you will too. It is available, on GooglePlay, and possibly wherever you buy your e-books. So, here is the synopsis...

15362992When rebellion destroys the underground world in which Thimble and Stone have grown up, they take Stone’s son and try to escape the chaos. Along the way, they must evade the Freaks, beings who feed on human flesh. Leaving behind the roles of Builder and Breeder which they were assigned at birth, they wander the underground tunnels, looking for safety yet afraid to go “topside” where legend has it that the light and water will burn their skin from their bones.

Their journey takes them upward to an unimagined world of tinned food, comfortable furniture, and books. Away from their regimented society for the first time, and still facing imminent danger, Thimble and Stone acknowledge the forbidden attraction which both have denied for years.

Hive & Heist  by Janine A. Southard: So this was one of the books I received for a book tour this past summer, and wasn't able to finish right away, and then I forgot. So, here it is now. Hive & Heist, the second book in The Hive Queen Saga, was really interesting. I loved the development of the characters, and the story picked up almost exactly where the first left off. There were things that I didn't expect in it, and I had to keep reading all the way to the end. I couldn't stop until it was done! And now, I want more, so, when the next book comes out, I will be one of the first to get it. If you don't know what I am talking about The book, Queen & Commander was book one, and I read it this past summer, I really enjoyed it and since I had received the second as well, I just continued to love the saga. They are available as e-books wherever you buy your e-books. If you have read them (1,2, or both) let me know what you thought, or if you plan on reading them here soon, then tell my what you think as you are reading them. Here is the synopsis:

A space station caper! Here’s the sequel to the award-winning Queen & Commander.

Is it really stealing when you take back what’s yours?

Exhausted and broke, Rhiannon’s Hive limps into John Wayne Station on the Ceridwen’s Cauldron. Safe at last, this stop-over is looking bright until the authorities steal their ship’s engine. The only solution: steal it back!

Between stage-handing a play (at the local brothel) and avoiding their law-enforcement roommate (a sentient robot), they grow into a real team. A real Dyfed-style Hive.

The law enforcement robot, meanwhile, is busy detecting a series of thefts and murders. She’s determined to use all her skills—programmed both before and after she clawed her way to sentience—to protect anyone else from getting hurt. Agents from a rival law enforcement group, however, bump into her investigation and create problems that she could really do without. She has a job to do, even if they’re determined to get in her way.

Hive & Heist has action, druidry, and a sentient robot. Oh, and some sheep.

Thank You for reading my posts, and coming back for more!
